Founded in 1977, Congreso de Latinos Unidos, Inc. provides innovative, bilingual/bicultural services to North Philadelphia’s Latino neighborhoods. Congreso has evolved from a primarily health-focused agency, to a multiservice center, which addresses the social and economic development of the people they serve. Congreso’s comprehensive services include HIV prevention, drug and alcohol counseling, after-school and summer youth programs, welfare-to-work and workforce development initiatives, and the first Latino domestic violence program in Pennsylvania. By building productive partnerships with businesses, government agencies, health providers, labor organizations, and other community-based institutions, Congreso is becoming more successful in delivering concrete results and progress for children and families in North Philadelphia.
