Founded in 1974, El Centro del Pueblo's mission is to provide social services such as counseling, drug prevention, social rehabilitation, employment, outreach, education, health services, and youth services in an effort to improve the quality of life of the diverse communities of Los Angeles County. El Centro is expanding its programs into economic development and will be purchasing a building for mixed-use commercial, low-income housing, and recreation space. El Centro's primary constituency is 98% Latino.
