Founded in 1987, Luz Social Services, Inc. was established by a group of concerned community leaders who saw the need to respond to the increasing problem of gangs and substance abuse in the Chicano community of Tucson. The mission of Luz Social Services is to combine collective community strengths in a collaborative struggle against drugs, crime, teen pregnancy, domestic violence, school dropouts, and the effects of poverty. Some services provided by Luz Services include Adelante Juntos Community Empowerment Partnership, Luz Adolescent Health Clinic, Los Tres Pasos Coalition, and Hispanic Sports Enrichment Program.
