The purpose of Self-Help Enterprises (SHE) is to assist low-income families of the San Joaquin Valley to improve their living conditions. SHE was founded in 1965 and has over 37 years of successful experience in improving the living conditions and community standards of lower income Hispanic farmworker families. Self-Help Enterprises, a Fannie Mae Maxwell Award Recipient, has a long history of accomplishments in providing service to the multi-county, rural area communities of the San Joaquin Valley. As indicated by the name of their corporation, it is the guiding philosophy of Self-Help Enterprises to work with, rather than for, individuals in their efforts to improve their living conditions and their communities. Their extensive program areas include self-help housing rehabilitation, first-time homebuyers, and multi-family housing development programs.
