Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center
The Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center, Inc. (TVHC) was incorporated as a community-benefit nonprofit corporation and has been providing primary health care and human services since 1971 to its southern Alameda County service area. It is currently a multi-service and multi-site operation with a current annual operating budget of slightly over 12 million dollars and employs nearly 140 full and part-time staff. TVHC has evolved into the premier primary healthcare provider organization in the area and has provided leadership in developing unprecedented multicultural health safety nets at the local, state, and national levels. Efforts have also led to binational California-Mexico health initiatives that are ongoing and include the University of California system. TVHC’s services include direct primary care medical services at four state-licensed clinic sites for all ages, dental services, mental health and psycho-social case management, health education and prevention services (including a well-developed “Promotoras” program), and nutrition vouchers. Overall TVHC serves over 15,000 patients and clients per year and provides approximately 40,000 direct medical encounters. |
