Amigos for Kids
Amigos for Kids responds to the diverse needs of South Florida’s abused, abandoned, neglected and less-fortunate children. To fulfill its mission, Amigos for Kids implements an array of programs, including: • Jose Marti After-School Program: a program implemented in cooperation with Miami Parks and Recreation Department, local schools, and other sponsors in East Little Havana to provide scholastic assistance and tutoring to disadvantaged children and promote educational opportunities for parents and the community to stop the cycle of domestic violence. • Amigos Strengthens Families and Communities Program: a structured curriculum in a series of workshops for parents and children focused on increasing awareness of child abuse prevention and child safety. • Blue Ribbon Campaign: annual coordination of a series of educational events and creation of educational materials designed to increase awareness regarding child abuse in partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami-Dade County officials, and other local community organizations. |
