Summary

The National Council of La Raza is looking for a Database Coordintor to work in the Education department. The database coordinator is responsible for collecting and disseminating demographic and performance data for NCLR Affiliate Charter Schools. The coordinator will manage database projects and activities for the Education department. The coordinator is also responsible for collecting relevant data from NCLR components, schools, and external data sources and ensuring data are updated in the NCLR organizational database (MS CRM). The responsibilities also include generating queries and reports using the MS CRM database.

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) – the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States – works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, and update data from NCLR Affiliate charter schools and other sources
  • Coordinate with regional directors, Affiliate Management Services department, funders, and external sources (federal and state education databases) to ensure data are accurate and updated
  • Develop reports for funders
  • Coordinate with funders to ensure appropriate data are collected
  • Develop and execute routine queries to provide information to the Education department’s management team
  • Validate and clean up Affiliate charter school data
  • Work with NCLR database staff and consultants to provide and develop the best database solutions to meet the department’s goals and objectives
  • Use collected data to prepare written reports for the management team, funders, and other components
  • Recommend ways the Education department can use the NCLR organizational database to increase efficiency
  • Work with NCLR database staff to migrate education departmental data in CRM
  • Serve as a team member on a cross-departmental business rules committee
  • Communicate database rules, implement quality assurance policies, and modify controls and security procedures in the Education department
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Commitment to the mission and vision of NCLR
  • Familiarity with federal and state educational databases
  • Understanding of school-based assessment data
  • At least two years of experience working in a data-intensive environment
  • Understanding of the organizational structure and data requirements of schools (preferably charter schools)
  • Proficient in MS Office applications specifically Word, Excel, and Access
  • Thorough understanding of relational database technology and database query tools
  • BS in education, business, information technology, or relevant experience
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Results driven and action oriented
