The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) – the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States – works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), NCLR reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform database management tasks, including queries, reports, troubleshooting, database maintenance, and performance tuning.
- Work with application developers and consultants to provide the best database solutions to organizational business processes.
- Oversee the development and testing of customized reports and scripts provided by service vendors.
- Analyze SQL code from reports, scripts, and stored procedures.
- Provide management of user accounts and user access to data tables and modules.
- Coordinate and direct the migration of departmental data in MS CRM.
- Oversee the maintenance and integrity of NCLR’s organizational database and ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and availability of critical data.
- Work with IT staff to ensure data is backed up, logs are archived, and data can be restored.
- Develop strategies to use the CRM database for marketing, branding, and promotional campaigns.
- Manage and coordinate various organizational database projects.
- Oversee the development and implementation of CRM customized scripts, fields, and reports.
- Coordinate the collection of relevant data from NCLR components and departments (e.g., contract data, financial data, and updated rosters).
- Develop and implement database rules, quality assurance policies, change controls, and security procedures.
- Develop policies, procedures, methodologies, standards, and best practices on the use of data in the organization.
- Ensure the development of system audits and database integrity checks.
- Research and make recommendations to purchase other third-party data enhancement products and/or other productivity software.
- Direct the monitoring of the database system for performance issues and ensure that system backups are being performed according to policy.
- Oversee system upgrades and implementation of additional third-party software (e.g., C360).
- Supervise and prioritize tasks and activities of database coordinator.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience and knowledge in managing relational database applications (CRM, iMIS, Oracle, etc.)
- Working knowledge of MS SQL Server and database design
- Experience analyzing or writing SQL queries, scripts, or stored procedures
- Thorough understanding of relational database technology and architectures
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, vendors, and consultants
- B.S. degree in business or IT, or related experience
- General knowledge of statistics and data analysis
- Knowledge of web technologies and e-commerce applications
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Access
- Ability to translate user requirements to technical specifications
- Extensive experience in overseeing and managing large organizational projects, preferably of a technical nature (web, database), and managing multiple projects at once
- Success in time management, project management, and leading cross-functional and diverse teams
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to analyze and solve problems on the day-to-day practical level
- Resourcefulness and a persistent, can-do attitude
