AMERICORPS MEMBER ACTIVE IN THE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORT URGES OTHERS TO DO THE SAME

Jose Manzanares

Jose Manzanares, AmeriCorps*NCCC member, was already packed and ready when he recieved the phone call asking him to come to the Gulf and serve the victims of Hurricane Katrina. As Manzanares puts it, "It's that wanting to do something and accomplish something that sets AmeriCorps apart." And he is not alone. More than 5,000 AmeriCorps members have been actively involved in Katrina relief. AmeriCorps provides its members with the opportunity to actively participate in activities such as this one, so that accomplishments are not just ideas, but actions.
