AWARD WINNER PIQE OFFERS FAMILY STRENGTHENING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TRAINING TO HISPANIC COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONSWashington, DC February 23-24, 2006, the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) will host a two-day training session for several Latino community-based organizations (CBOs) from around the country. These sessions will showcase the work of PIQE as a model for how other CBOs nationwide can help strengthen Hispanic families in their communities. In 2005, PIQE received the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and Annie E. Casey Foundation Family Strengthening Award for its Nine-Week Parent Involvement Program. The honored program teaches parents how to improve the home and school educational environment of their children by effectively interacting with school staff, following their children’s academic progress, and preparing them for postsecondary education.
