PRESIDENT JANET MURGUÍA TO SPEAK AT SOUTHEAST REGIONAL AFFILIATE NETWORK RECEPTION IN ORLANDO

Orlando, FL – On January 24, Janet Murguia, President and CEO of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), will be joined by Marytza Sanz, Executive Director of Latino Leadership, and other local community leaders at a reception to honor NCLR’s Southeast Regional Affiliate Network – a group of 35 community-based organizations that provide a broad range of services to Hispanics in 11 states in the region. The reception will take place on Wednesday, January 24 in Orlando, Florida at Bank of America, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

As President and CEO of the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., Murguía will discuss the critical role that NCLR’s Affiliates in the Southeast play in strengthening Hispanic communities in the region and the importance of connecting their work to NCLR’s broader network of nearly 300 formal Affiliates and the millions of Hispanics it reaches each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. Murguía will also preview the upcoming 2007 NCLR Annual Conference, which will take place July 21-24 in Miami. The reception is co-sponsored by Walt Disney.

All members of the media interested in attending the reception and/or scheduling an interview with Murguía, please contact Jacqueline Pacheco at jpacheco@nclr.org or (202) 785-1670.
