"CUPCAKE WARS" TELEVISION CONTEST TO FEATURE THEMES OF LATINO HERITAGEFilmed at the 2009 NCLR ALMA Awards®, “Cupcake Wars” will air on the Food Network Los Angeles, CA—At the star-studded 2009 ALMA Awards, hosted by NCLR (National Council of La Raza) this past September, the Food Network held its “Cupcake Wars” contest, challenging the top four bakers in the country to incorporate themes from Latino culture and cooking into a cupcake baking battle. The Food Network will air this program on December 27–28, 2009 and January 2, 2010. Contestants were challenged to impress celebrity judges with a presentation of high-quality cupcakes. Celebrity judges included Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO; Paula Garces, ALMA Awards nominee; and Christopher Pulido, NCLR Event and Meeting Planner. As your family gathers around the television this holiday season, plan on tuning in to the Food Network for the launch of “Cupcake Wars” and check out the NCLR ALMA Awards as featured on the show. “Cupcake Wars” will be aired on the following days: December 27, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. EST December 28, 2009 at 1:00 a.m. EST January 2, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. EST Check your local listings for scheduling changes.
