Overview

The Hispanic Education Coalition (HEC) is an ad hoc coalition of national organizations dedicated to improving educational opportunities for the over 40 million Latinos living in the United States and Puerto Rico. Co-chaired by the National Council of La Raza and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the HEC consists of more than 20 national organizations. Working on issues such as the No Child Left Behind Act, adequate funding for education, and the reauthorization of Head Start and the Higher Education Act, the HEC strives to ensure that dialogue at the federal level concerning education reform reflects the priorities of the Latino community.
