August In-District VisitsOverview
Thank you for participating in NCLR's August In-District Visits, a coast-to-coast effort where hundreds of grassroots leaders will meet with their members of Congress to keep families united and push the passage of comprehensive immigration reform in 2009. This website will give you the basic information you will need before, during, and after your meetings. We need to achieve comprehensive immigration reform in 2009: ;The time is now, and immigration reform is what our country needs. To get there, we need to reach the crucial number of 279 votes: 218 votes in the House of Representatives, 60 votes in the Senate, and one presidential vote. 218 House Members + 60 Senators + One President = 279 Votes for Immigration Reform
We need to make sure that your Senator and Representative do the right thing for our families, our communities, our values, our economy, and our country and that they express their support to President Barack Obama.
So we are asking you to schedule an in-district meeting with your member of Congress during the August recess:
