Affiliate Awards Program

Overview

The Affiliate Member Services (AMS) administers annually two separate awards for NCLR Affiliates: the Family Strengthening Awards and the Affiliate of the Year Award.

NCLR/Ford Motor Company Affiliate of the Year Award

name

The NCLR/Ford Motor Company Affiliate of the Year Awards Program is an award bestowed once annually to an NCLR affiliate for its exemplary work, overall, in serving its local community and for supporting NCLR’s policy and programmatic initiatives. The award program provides an opportunity to showcase the achievements of affiliates and how their accomplishments have made a positive, measurable impact on the lives of Latinos across the country. The award is given to one NCLR affiliate during the NCLR Awards Gala at the Annual Conference, along with a cash award of $25,000. In addition, NCLR recognizes four Affiliate of the Year Regional Honorees, representing the West, Central, Eastern regions and California respectively, each receiving a cash award of $5000.

NCLR/The Annie E. Casey Foundation Family Strengthening Awards

The NCLR /Annie E. Casey Foundation Family Strengthening Awards Program presents awards on an annual basis to NCLR Affiliate programs whose exemplary work in the Hispanic community has made a measurable impact in strengthening Latino families. The impact made by the Affiliate organization as a whole must demonstrate a holistic approach that is comprehensive in addressing education, housing, employment, health, and advocacy issues, whether through direct efforts or through partnerships with other organizations. This award offers NCLR a forum in which to honor the work of outstanding Affiliate programs for strengthening the Hispanic family.

 NCLR/Comcast Capacity-Building Grant Program

The National Council of La Raza (NCLR)-Comcast Capacity-Building Grant Program will provide support to eight Affiliates to enhance their capacity to: (a) operate a program in a specific issue area, (b) conduct advocacy work or, (c) improve institutional infrastructure. Each grantee received a grant totaling $75,000 over a three-year period and be expected to demonstrate evidence of implementation, evaluation, and sustainability.
