This data book provides a comprehensive look at the educational status of Hispanics, and includes chapters on preprimary, elementary, secondary, and higher education, as well as examines data related to Latino educators and staff. The report analyzes information from a range of sources to describe notable educational trends, challenges facing Latino students, and specific issues that public policy should address, including educational attainment levels, achievement, and outcomes. It also offers a portrait of characteristics of successful schools for Hispanics. The book concludes with a detailed discussion of the implications of Latino educational status for the U.S. in the context of a quickly-growing Hispanic community, as well as outlines the responsibilities of different sectors in ensuring positive educational outcomes for Latinos. Includes numerous charts, graphs, and tables.
