The memorandum includes a series of fact sheets addressing some of the barriers faced by ex-offenders, including housing, employment, and substance abuse treatment.

Description

Every year, more than 600,000 people will be released from prison and return to the community. Upon completing their prison sentences, many of them will have chronic health problems, low levels of education and job training, the need for housing, and a general lack of resources to help them transition back into their communities. With the odds against them, approximately two-thirds of them will return to prison. The memorandum includes a series of fact sheets addressing some of the barriers faced by ex-offenders, including housing, employment, and substance abuse treatment. The memorandum was compiled by an informal coalition of national, state, and local organizations that advocate for comprehensive reentry programs.
