Civil Rights Groups Call for Passage of Housing Bill

April 11, 2013
Today, NCLR (National Council of La Raza), the NAACP and Del Norte Neighborhood Development Corporation, along with other community and civil rights activists, held a press conference at the State Capitol in Denver to press for approval of a measure to help struggling homeowners. HB 13-1249, the “Colorado Housing Stabilization and Mortgage Accountability Act,” would require banks to determine whether homeowners qualify for loan modifications prior to starting foreclosure proceedings.

President Obama to Address NCLR Annual Conference In July

The White House has confirmed that President Barack Obama will speak at the 2011 NCLR (National Council of La Raza) Annual Conference, NCLR President and CEO Janet Murguía announced today. The NCLR Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo, the single largest national Latino event of the year, will be held in Washington, D.C., July 23–26, at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. More than 25,000 participants are expected to attend the four-day event.
