Nat’l Latino Advocacy Days

2015 NCLR National Latino Advocacy Days

Nearly 300 Latino leaders from across the country participated in the 2015 NCLR National Latino Advocacy Days on March 4 at Gallaudet University. Participants, who included nearly 100 youth from the Líderes Congreso, advocated for Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents and the expansion of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Attendees also met with congressional representatives to advocate for President Obama’s administrative relief actions.

At the event, Department of Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stressed the historic opportunity the country has to keep American families together with these policy changes. For her part, NCLR President and CEO Janet Murguía spoke about the need for Latinos to vote to ensure politicians understand and hear our community’s voice on these and other vital issues.
