Nat’l Latino Advocacy Days

2014 NCLR National Latino Advocacy Days

The 2014 NCLR National Latino Advocacy Days took place on March 5–6, 2014, in Washington, DC. The event brought together hundreds of leaders from Latino nonprofit and civic organizations from 27 states and the District of Columbia. Participants received intensive training on policy and legislative advocacy, learned about federal policy issues affecting the Latino community, including immigration reform, and built relationships with their members of Congress through congressional visits on Capitol Hill.

Speakers at this event included Congressman Gutierrez (D–IL); Janet Murguía, NCLR President and CEO; and Tom Espinoza, President and CEO of Raza Development Fund, the sponsor of the event.

Prior to the event’s kickoff, participants attended optional sessions on how to keep families together, lobbying rules for nonprofits, and a youth summit on school bullying.
