Please join NCLR for its Inaugural Health Summit. The Summit will consist of two parts—policy and programming—linking these areas and providing guidance for Affiliates as they face the changes brought on by health care reform. Attendees will participate in a social media training, have the chance to share the successes of their own programs, and help shape the 2013 Summit in New Orleans. Scholarships are available to NCLR Affiliates that demonstrate need.

2011 NCLR California Latino Advocacy Day

NCLR and organizations from its California Affiliate Network will convene on May 11 at the State Capitol in Sacramento for NCLR California Latino Advocacy Day. The annual event is an opportunity for advocates to meet with their legislators to discuss education, health, housing, and workforce development issues affecting Latinos throughout the state.

In the morning, NCLR President and CEO Janet Murguía will hold a press conference with state legislators, NCLR Affiliates, and key allies to draw attention to the advocacy work of California Affiliates and to outline NCLR’s California advocacy agenda to advance opportunities for the Latino community.

The event will feature the release of a new collection of stories published by NCLR, We Needed the Work: Latino Worker Voices in the New Economy, which chronicles the experiences of Latino, immigrant, and other low-wage workers, as told in their own words. In addition, leading advocates will discuss policy efforts to protect workers’ rights.

Join NCLR and children’s advocates from across the country in mobilizing to fight for Latino children and youth at this two-day convening.
