Home for Good

How to Get Involved
Join the the Home for Good campaign and let us know what your hopes are for keeping families in their home for good! Contact Nancy Wilberg Ricks at nwilberg@nclr.org for further details.

In April 2011, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) launched the Home for Good (H4G) campaign to:

  1. Stop unnecessary foreclosures
  2. Protect affordable housing
  3. Keep responsible homeownership available

Staying fixed on these goals allowed the H4G campaign to be nimble in response to the housing debate. In 2011, the H4G campaign advanced housing policy reform to preserve what for many families is their largest singular asset—their home. In 2012, we hope you will join us in expanding these successes and taking H4G to more families throughout the nation.

Activities in 2012
In 2012, H4G will remain focused on its three original goals to stop foreclosures, protect affordable housing, and support homeownership. To move policymakers and cultivate champions that support these goals, the campaign will be focused on community engagement. We intend to engage a base of supporters that will advocate on housing priorities. As a partner, we invite you to participate to the extent you are able. Participation could include any or all of the following items:

  1. Endorse the campaign by adding your name to the organizations involved.
  2. Spread the word. Disseminate H4G breaking news or action alerts to your networks.
  3. Co-host or participate in regional town halls to gather information on regional needs and to engage community members on home issues such as housing counseling, foreclosure prevention, and immigrant housing rights.
  4. Cobrand and/or disseminate the H4G Consumer Voter Guide. NCLR will design and disseminate a voter guide that cites major pieces of consumer legislation and how congressional members voted on them.
  5. Participate in dedicated social media events. In tandem with H4G town halls, NCLR will host social media events including, blog carnivals, tweet-offs, and more.
