La Fuerza Unida, Inc.

Glen Cove,New York

La Fuerza Unida, Inc. was established in 1978 as a vehicle to improve the social, literary, educational, cultural, and economic conditions of Hispanic Americans in Long Island. However, with the increased demand for services by the overall population served by La Fuerza, the organization has evolved into a multiservice agency, adding to its client base the low- to moderate-income community. La Fuerza offers an array of social, human, educational, youth, housing, economic development, and immigration services to low- and moderate-income residents of Long Island. La Fuerza Unida offers the Neighborhood Preservation and Development Program, which addresses housing problems, and offers tenant advocacy, training, tenant-landlord mediation, homebuyer seminars, workshops, and homelessness prevention programs. La Fuerza Unida’s Immigration and Citizenship Program offers a comprehensive network of services geared toward the achievement of legal status and U.S. citizenship through workshops, seminars, and completion of required forms by the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services. La Fuerza Unida also offers the SACC Program, a school-aged child care, after-school program during school days, holidays, and summers in elementary schools within the Glen Cove School District, offering academic enhancement and reinforcement and cultural and recreational activities. In addition, La Fuerza Unida offers a Computer Literacy and Career Training Program, a unique initiative to enhance the employment opportunities available to youth and adults through workplace competency and skills development focused on computer literacy instruction and technology-related education in preparation for high-paying careers.
