Poder Learning Center was founded in 1997 in order to address the needs of today’s adult immigrant.  To fulfill its mission, Poder provides educational training that aims to promote human dignity, increase employment potential, and encourage participation within the greater community.  Poder offers a range of tuition-free courses and no-cost services.  These include a combined English as a Second Language (ESL) and computer literacy skills training course; an Adult Basic Education (ABE) course taught in Spanish for those individuals who lack basic literacy skills and/or who failed to graduate from grade school; as well as a Job Development Program that provides participants with the job-readiness skills that aid employment procurement and provide access to a living wage and a brighter future.
