The NCLR Affiliate of the Year Award is bestowed once annually to an NCLR Affiliate for its exemplary work, overall, in serving its local community and for supporting NCLR's policy and programmatic initiatives. The award program provides an opportunity to showcase the achievements of Affiliates and how their accomplishments have made a positive, measurable impact on the lives of Latinos across the country.

The NCLR Family Strengthening Awards Program recognizes NCLR Affiliate programs whose exemplary work in the Hispanic community has made a measurable impact in strengthening Latino families. The impact made by the Affiliate organization as a whole must demonstrate a holistic approach that is comprehensive in addressing education, housing, employment, health, and advocacy issues, whether through direct efforts or through partnerships with other organizations. This award offers NCLR a forum in which to honor the work of outstanding Affiliate programs for strengthening the Hispanic family.

The Affiliate Capacity-Building Grant Program is a collaborative effort between the NCLR’s Affiliate Member Services (AMS) and the Office of Research, Advocacy, and Legislative Affairs (ORAL) aimed at strengthening Affiliate initiatives that actively promote civic engagement, advocacy, and leadership development efforts in their community.  It is designed to complement existing and emerging initiatives that empower agency constituents to be more active members in their community as a vehicle for fulfilling the agency’s mission while aligning NCLR-Affiliate priorities.

Recognizing the important role that vision plays in the educational process, Vision Service Plan (VSP), a national health care leader in the area of eye care services, founded the Sight for Students Program in 1997 to help low income children obtain free vision care. Since then, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) has partnered with VSP to connect our Affiliates and our communities to the program

NCLR partnered with Southwest Airlines to answer the Affiliate call for assistance in traveling to attend NCLR events. Twelve Affiliates were selected during March, April, May, and June to win a free roundtrip ticket! These tickets will enable Affiliates to reunite with other Affiliates and the NCLR familia.
