Affiliate Photo Contest
The National Council of La Raza (NCLR) is proud of its Affiliate Network of nearly 300 community-based organizations and the work they do to empower Latinos throughout the nation. The Annual Affiliate Photo Contest provides NCLR with an opportunity to showcase these efforts and the impact they bring to our community.
Ten finalists will compete for the grand prize of two roundtrip tickets, courtesy of Southwest Airlines, and two complimentary tickets to the 2013 Capital Awards in Washington, DC. Entries will have an opportunity to appear in NCLR publications, marketing materials, and other opportunities. The winner will be selected via a public poll and will be announced in January 2013.

As the Latino population grows, NCLR must grow its programs and services. Throughout the country, the need for resources has soared, especially within Latino communities. Countless families, workers, and retirees struggle to secure their financial footing and family’s well-being. NCLR’s has a long track record of fiscal responsibility and a grassroots infrastructure that distributes funding directly to the communities where help is needed most.

Rules and Restrictions
Contest Details: Photos submitted by the deadline will be reviewed by NCLR and narrowed down to a top ten. These ten images will then be announced via the Regional Digests and will be promoted for viewing and voting from November 29 to December 19 through NCLR’s Affiliate Network, broader constituents, and social media advocates. The winner will be announced in January.
Contest Prizes: The top ten images will compete for the most votes via an online poll. The photo with the most votes will receive the grand prize of two round-trip tickets, courtesy of Southwest Airlines, to the 2013 NCLR Capital Awards and National Latino Advocacy Days in Washington, DC.
The Contest winner will receive two roundtrip tickets courtesy of Southwest Airlines and instructions on how to claim the Capital Award tickets. It is the responsibility of the Executive Director of the winning organization to decide who will be awarded the winning tickets and provide these names to NCLR.
Eligibility: All NCLR Affiliates in good standing with their Affiliation requirements may submit up to ten images for consideration. An Affiliate in good standing is defined as up to date with dues and recertification documents.
Photo Submission Guidelines:
- All photos must be of at least 300 dpi or greater quality to be considered.
- Due to size limitations, we ask that each email be no larger than 3 MB, but feel free to send images in multiple emails.
- All email submissions should include the following email subject line: SWA Photo Contest [Name of Affiliate] Submission [#]. The body of the email should contain the photo caption, description and any necessary photo credits.
- Please title all photographs with the organization name and number of the image submitted (ex. NCLR-08).
- All entries must be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
- A License to Use Materials form must be submitted to be eligible. Release forms already in use by Affiliates are acceptable if the release can extend these rights to partners (NCLR).
License to Use Materials: Submission of a photograph constitutes agreement to allow photographs to be reproduced, published, and/or exhibited for promotional purposes by NCLR. Participants must own all rights to the works submitted. Model releases must be provided to NCLR if requested. Participants must indemnify NCLR for any loss or damage arising from any breach of contract or copyright.
Southwest Airlines Guidelines: Tickets issued by Southwest Airlines will bear the date of issue and the date of expiration of July, 31, 2013; expiration dates cannot be extended. Tickets are non-refundable or redeemable for cash or credit. Tickets will not be replaced if lost or stolen. Tickets are valid on Southwest-operated, published, and scheduled service only. The ticketholder must be 18 years or older and a legal U.S. resident. Tickets cannot be resold to a third party. Tickets may not be used for promotional purposes unless previously approved through Southwest Airlines. No substitutions are allowed. Winning Affiliates, Affiliate staff, and NCLR agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Southwest Airlines Co., its officers, directors, servants, agents, contractors, and employees from and against all losses, damages, claims, or injury or death of persons arising out of or in any manner connected with the services, activities, events, or responsibilities as specified herein.
