NCLR's Position on TANF

The reauthorization of TANF provides some policy opportunities to assist states in helping to move Latino families off the roles and into stable jobs. The large body of evidence points to the need for effective reforms to the TANF program which will protect the rights of all families and ensure that Hispanic mothers have equal opportunities to move off the TANF rolls, into stable employment and out of poverty.

NCLR supports reforms to the TANF program that ensure equitable access for legal immigrants and persons of limited English proficiency, and investing in effective programs for Latinos on the mainland and in Puerto Rico, which enable them to return to work.
