National Council of La Raza: NCLR Community Development Programs: Home Rescue Fairs

The Alliance for Stabilizing our Communities (ASC) is a collaborative effort of the National Urban League (NUL), the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and the National Coalition of Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD). Together with Bank of America we’re working to help communities at risk of foreclosure.

The Alliance is launching a multi-language grassroots outreach program to provide critical resources to a network of local housing counseling entities in 24 high-risk, high-population markets across the country, through a $2.5 million grant from Bank of America. The grant will help fund:

Additional counselors in local markets
Training to new and existing counselors
Marketing and outreach efforts in multiple languages to inform at-risk borrowers about the Alliance resources
A new resource guide to help communities respond to foreclosure challenges

The grant will support 34 home retention fairs in communities identified as facing high foreclosure rates. The fairs, expected to serve more than 11,000 households, will provide extensive onsite counseling services by Alliance nonprofit partners who are trusted advisors.
