Emilio Estefan
Emilio Estefan has become one of the biggest names in the music industry. He founded Estefan Enterprise, Inc. and with his wife Gloria has given tremendous opportunities to help young Latino musicians and make them into superstars. His Miami-based company has recruited talents from the U.S. and internationally.
As a Cuban refugee, he came to Miami and became a runner for many Cuban women. He then worked at Bacardi in the mailroom. His vision and entrepreneurship led him to become Director of Marketing for the Latin division. At the same time, he played the accordion at a local Italian restaurant, which led him and a few buddies to start the band then called the Miami Latin Boys. He met Gloria and formed what is now known as the Miami Sound Machine.
The band became a huge success internationally and Mr. Estefan later formed Estefan Enterprise, Inc. With his leadership and his ability to take risks, many people have sought him out to become prominent artists. Now he has expanded this music production venture into the hotel and restaurant industry, television, film, and most recently into the mobile and wireless industries.
