Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez



A professor of journalism at the University of Texas at Austin, Maggie Rivas- Rodriguez has influenced many of her students and is passionate about sharing the history of Latinos and helping others excel in the media industry.
 
Ms. Rivas-Rodriguez has more than 17 years of daily news experience. She first started as a copy editor and later became a reporter for various news channels. She later became interested in border states, oral history, and the growth of Latinos in the media industry.
 
With her interest and skills, she was able to start the U.S. Latino and Latina World War II Oral History Project. Using various forms of media outlets she informs us of Latinos’ efforts and involvement during WWII. Her ability to educate has led her to a successful career of reaching out to other Latinos and making their roles in U.S. history known to many.
